Rex Detamore was raised in Stamford, Texas, and graduated from Stamford High School in 1989. His love for agriculture and the outdoors began early, working weekends and summers on his grandparents’ farm near Paint Creek in Haskell County. Hunting and fishing were a major part of his upbringing, and he still enjoys spending time in the field whenever he can.
Rex graduated from Tarleton State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business. He remains an active Tarleton alumnus and supporter, especially proud that his daughter, Macy, is carrying on the family tradition as a current Tarleton student. Rex is a proud supporter of Stamford youth sports, where both of his children, Macy and Reagan, have been active participants.
After college, Rex began his career with Wolfe Nursery and Garden Centers in Abilene, where he expanded his knowledge of landscaping and outdoor projects. He later worked for a steel and industrial supplier, quickly moving into a Regional Sales Manager role overseeing a large Texas territory. During that time, Rex began investing in real estate, a passion that grew into a full-time career.
He joined Ekdahl Real Estate in 2006 and earned his broker’s license in 2012. Today, Rex specializes in farm, ranch, and recreational properties, along with investment and quarry land transactions. His strong background in agriculture and business helps him provide insight and value to every client he serves.
Rex is also deeply involved in the Stamford community, serving as a longtime volunteer and chairman for the historic Texas Cowboy Reunion Rodeo. He believes in giving back to the place that helped shape who he is. Known for his integrity and personable approach, Rex takes pride in building relationships that last well beyond the closing table. Working with him is more than a transaction; it is the start of a lifelong connection.
