From Land Lovers to Trusted Advisors
Ekdahl Real Estate began when Ed Ekdahl launched the business to support his family’s cotton operation in Jones County. He started with managing farm and ranch loans and appraising land. It soon became a passion for Ed, and then a profession built on deep knowledge of the West Texas landscape.
Ed once said his favorite part of the job was “driving over a piece of land, seeing just what it has to offer.” His philosophy set the tone for how Ekdahl would do business for decades to come.
A Family Legacy Continues
In 1996, Ed’s son John Ekdahl joined the family business after graduating from Texas A&M University. Over the years, John not only helped grow the team but also brought a fresh energy and focus to the company, earning his broker’s license and building on the foundation laid by his father.
When Ed retired in 2007, John took over leadership of the company. Under his guidance, Ekdahl expanded with new offices in Anson and Rotan, broadening its reach to serve more clients across Texas.
Growing Stronger Through Partnerships
In 2019, Ekdahl Real Estate took another exciting step by merging with Nelson Farm & Ranch Properties, bringing together two respected West Texas real estate names to better serve clients statewide. The merger allowed Ekdahl Real Estate to expand further into new markets with established offices in Abilene and Aspermont, while continuing its heritage of personalized, expert service.
